Once you have installed the controller it is important to check that the controller is setup and working properly.
Tools required - Hair dryer and possibly a small screwdriver.
I found the best way to test your installation is to power up the box with the lid off. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING AS THERE IS MAINS VOLTAGE and heat up the sensor with a hair dryer. The fan should start after the sensor gets warm. Adjust the speed until you are happy then REPEAT the test proceedure to make sure that the speed has not been reduced too much as it takes a higher start up current for the fan. If it doesn't start the speed of the fan is set too low. Increase the speed as detailed below.
When you are happy replace the lid, being careful not to trap any of the cables between the lid and the case and let the controller do the work.
After powering up the box the fan should not now run. After a while ( depending on room temperature ) the fan will start and run for a while then stop. The fan will continue to turn on and off to maintain the correct temperature inside the box.
Before dispatch I set the temperature setting to suit your box. However not every box is the same and you may wish for the fan to come on more if you think the box is getting too warm or you may find the fan is coming on too often and the box is still cool to touch.
Both these situations can be easily rectified by adjusting the temperature setting on the controller. VERY LITTLE ADJUSTMENT IS NEEDED.
I MEAN VERY LITTLE - ABOUT 10-15 degrees.
That is about 2 to 3 minutes on a clockface. So it is a very little amount. If you move it too far by accident I have marked the default position with a red dot to give a general location.
ADJUSTMENTS
To turn the speed of the fan UP turn the center of the variable resistor CLOCKWISE
To turn the speed DOWN turn the center of the variable resistor ANTICLOCKWISE.
For a Pace box the 12 o'clock position seems the ideal position but for an Amstrad this may be too much so the 3 o'clock position is better.
To INCREASE the temperature at which the fan turns on, turn the center of the variable CLOCKWISE.
Use the red tool supplied for adjustment.
To DECREASE the temperature at which the fan turns on, turn the center of the variable resistor ANTICLOCKWISE.
Use the red tool supplied for adjustment.
